Christian Horner got sacked by Red Bull Racing – and people are concerned about Verstappen leaving.

As of Wednesday, July 9th 2025, Horner has been released of his duties with immediate effect after being team principal and CEO for 20 years.

According to Sky Sports, there had been a power struggle.

In a harsh reality of being 4th in the Constructors championship, driver switches, car-related issues and confusing strategies, the team seems to slowly implode.

Former VCARB team principal Laurent Mekies will replace Horner as the new CEO of RBR. While Alan Permane will take on the job as VCARB team principal.

BUT: Some people are speculating Max Verstappen leaving for Mercedes now since rumours had been flying for weeks now.

Since Verstappen’s father Jos had an uneasy relationship with Horner, the move of firing him seems to be rather pro Verstappen staying.

Though the Dutchman himself hasn’t commented on the situation yet, his manager said that they keep on focusing on the sporting and performance side and nothing changes in that sense.

George Russell will start from first place tomorrow with Verstappen and Piastri following up respectively.

Both Norris and Leclerc had issues on their final laps, leading to them only starting from P7&8.

Tsunoda will start from P20 since he has to serve his 10-place grid penalty from Free Practice earlier.

Oscar Piastri will be starting on the front row of the Spanish Grand Prix next to his team mate Lando Norris. Following up on second row will be Max Verstappen and George Russell.

Lewis Hamilton beat his team mate for the first time in Qualifying as Leclerc pitted early due to not having any unused tyres left.

Lance Stroll failed to have his car weighed after Qualifying, there might be a grid penalty coming up for him.

Outside from the obvious – Leclerc winning his home race for the first time – we had a start full of action!

Both Haas drivers got disqualified from Qualifying and ended up DNF-ing at the start of the race as Magnussen and Perez collided. Hülkenberg was only a bystander in the crash but got too much damage to continue.

Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon also had a collision, ending with the latter having to retire the car.

We had one full red flag in which a lot of drivers changed tyres. This also helped Leclerc have a Start-Finish win in his home country.

Oscar Piastri won after long 57 laps in the Miami heat, followed up by teammate Lando Norris and George Russell.

We had 4 DNFs - all rookies. An incident regarding safety car infringement from both Sainz and Gasly will be investigated now after the race.

Good evening after an eventful race! In case you missed it, read through this recap and lap-by-lap notes of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix!

Oscar Piastri is the winner of the Saudi Grand Prix - and now Championship leader! He’s the first Australian to lead the F1 championship since his manager Mark Webber in 2010. Max Verstappen finished in second, followed by Charles Leclerc in third and Lando Norris in fourth.

Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly did not finish the race after an incident on lap 1 where the two cars crashed.

Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson both received penalties in this race. MV for gaining an advantage after leaving the track (5 seconds) and LL for the same (but 10 seconds).

… Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso topped the three Free Practice sessions!

… the top three after qualifying consisted of VER, LEC, PER!

… Carlos Sainz had driven in FP1 & 2 until he felt unwell and got diagnosed with Appendicitis!

… Ollie Bearman had his rookie debut in CS’s Ferrari and scored points as he finished P7!

… Lando Norris (apparently) had a jump-start which did not get fined or penalised because the transmitters of his grid box hadn’t caught movement!

… Pierre Gasly retired in the first lap of the race due to an engine failure!

… Lando Norris led the race for a few laps after Lance Stroll crashed in lap 7!

… Lewis Hamilton defended on old medium tyres against Oscar Piastri on new ones for multiple laps!

… Kevin Magnussen received two 10-second penalties as he defended his team mate Nico Hülkenberg during the race!

… Sergio Perez received a 5-second penalty for impeding on Alonso in the pit lane!

… the Podium consisted of VER - PER - LEC with the latter driving the fastest lap!
